Behind the Scenes: Roald Dahl Collection

If you haven't already heard, Storiarts is hard at work on our newest line featuring Roald Dahl coming Summer '18! This line will include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and James and the Giant Peach in our Book Scarves, Book Totes, and more! Here's a behind the scenes look with our designer and CEO Tori.

What's your favorite title in this line and why?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because that's the one I'm most acquainted with from my childhood and because of all the creative sweets and treats! I used to, and still do wish they were all real.

What are you most excited for in this line?

Our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Book Tote and the lightweight literary Matilda scarf. Both will use colors that I don't typically wear but I'm looking forward to adding to my wardrobe!

How is this line different than any other line we've done before?

The colors! We're really going to be mixing them up a bit within each title and adding quite a few new shades to our line.

Have you watched any of the movies? What's your favorite?

I have seen just about all the movies and it's not an easy decision to say which I like best. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was an absolute favorite as a kid, but I'm also a huge fan of the recent one done by Tim Burton (big fan!) I just love how they both portray such a mischievous Wonka character and I'm generally a fan of musicals. Matilda is a great one too. That casting job alone was superb.

Are you using Quentin Blake illustrations or designing your own?

I typically like to illustrate our pieces when possible but there was no way I was passing up the offer to use the originals in this case. Such classics!

My granddaughter is appearing in her school production of Matilda, and I wanted to gift her something for her to remember.
